About Czech Tolar
The Bohemian silver coin minted at Joachimsthal, giving the taler its name. The Czech talar featured the Bohemian lion and Saint James. The silver came from the rich Joachimsthal mines. The Czech talar is the direct ancestor of the dollar. Count Schlick began minting these large silver coins in 1520. The quality and purity of the Joachimsthal silver made the coin trusted throughout Europe.
