About Crusader Bezant
The gold coins minted by the Crusader states in the Holy Land. Initially copies of Byzantine and Islamic gold coins. Featured crosses and Christian inscriptions. The bezant was the standard currency of the Crusader kingdoms of Jerusalem, Antioch, and Tripoli. European traders used the term bezant for any gold coin from the East. The Crusader bezant demonstrates the cultural and economic exchange between Europe and the Levant.
