About Corinthian Pegasus
Featured Pegasus, the winged horse of Greek mythology, on the obverse. Corinth was a major commercial center and its coins circulated widely in southern Greece, Sicily, and southern Italy. The Corinthian stater was lighter than the Athenian tetradrachm, making it more convenient for trade. Over 400 Greek cities in Sicily and Italy copied the Pegasus design, a testament to Corinthian commercial influence.
