Connecticut Copper
About Connecticut Copper
A state copper coinage authorized by the Connecticut legislature. Featured a seated Liberty on the obverse and a standing figure on the reverse. Over 300 varieties are known due to hand crafted dies and die sinker errors. Some varieties show misspellings like INDE ET LIB for independence and liberty. The Connecticut copper was produced from 1785 to 1788. These state coppers are collected as early American coinage and represent the monetary chaos under the Articles of Confederation.
