About Chola Coin
The coins of the Chola Empire of southern India. Featured the Chola tiger emblem, fish, and bow. The Chola coins used both Tamil and Nagari inscriptions. Rajaraja Chola I issued gold coins commemorating his naval expeditions to Southeast Asia. The Chola maritime empire spread Indian coinage traditions to Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Srivijaya. Chola coins are found across the Indian Ocean region.
