About Celtic Gold Stater
The gold coins of the Celtic tribes of Gaul and Britain. Modeled on the gold stater of Philip II of Macedon but with stylized abstract designs. Celtic engravers transformed the realistic Greek designs into flowing abstract patterns. The Parisii tribe minted gold staters with a horse on the reverse. Celtic coins provide insight into tribal territories and artistic traditions. Over 100 tribes issued coins in Gaul alone.
