About Burmese Coin
The coins of the Kingdom of Burma before British colonization. Featured the peacock emblem of the Konbaung Dynasty. Mindon Min introduced machine struck coins in 1852. The Burmese monetary system was based on the weight of silver. The British introduced Indian rupees after conquering Upper Burma in 1885. Burma used Indian currency until separation in 1937. The peacock coins are rare and historically significant.
