Bridgeport Centennial Half
About Bridgeport Centennial Half
A commemorative half dollar featuring P. T. Barnum, the circus impresario and former mayor of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Only 25,015 were minted, making it one of the lower mintage classic commemoratives. The Bridgeport half is valued for its low mintage and the popularity of Barnum as a subject. The coin was sold at a premium during the Bridgeport centennial celebration. It represents the peak of the classic commemorative craze of the mid 1930s.
