The final large cent design. Featured Liberty with braided hair. Minted from 1839 to 1857. The 1857 was the last year of large cents. Many were saved as souvenirs when the small cent was introduced. The 1863 Braided Hair cent restrike is a mystery piece. Braided Hair cents are relatively affordable for collectors compared to earlier large cents.
