Zimbabwe Bond Notes
About Zimbabwe Bond Notes
Introduced in 2016 as a parallel currency to the US dollar in Zimbabwe. Bond notes were supposedly backed by a 200 million dollar Afreximbank loan facility. They traded at a discount to the US dollar on the black market. In 2019, the Reserve Bank introduced the RTGS dollar, later renamed the Zimbabwean dollar again. The currency turmoil continues Zimbabwes long monetary crisis since the 2008 hyperinflation. Trust in government issued currency remains extremely low.
