Burundian Franc
About Burundian Franc
The Burundian franc replaced the Rwandan and Burundian franc after the two countries separated their currencies. The Bank of the Republic of Burundi was established in 1966. Burundian banknotes feature agriculture, national landmarks, and cultural scenes. Burundi is one of the poorest countries in the world and has experienced repeated political crises since independence. The franc has depreciated steadily. Coffee and tea exports are the main sources of foreign exchange.
