A commemorative half dollar marking the opening of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge. Featured a grizzly bear on one side and a view of the bridge on the other. Only 71,369 were minted. The Bay Bridge half dollar is moderately scarce. The bridge opened in November 1936, six months before the Golden Gate Bridge. The coin was sold at a premium during the opening celebration and through local banks.
