About Azerbaijani Manat
The manat replaced the Soviet ruble. Redenominated in 2006 at 5,000 to 1. The manat is pegged to the US dollar. Azerbaijani banknotes feature historical architecture and cultural motifs. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan was established in 1992. Oil revenues have made Azerbaijan one of the wealthiest former Soviet republics per capita. The manat is managed tightly by the central bank.
