About Australian 50 Cent
The largest circulating coin in Australia. Features the coat of arms of Australia. The original 1966 round 50 cent coin was made of 80 percent silver and quickly hoarded. The dodecagonal shape introduced in 1969 distinguishes it from other coins. The coin is the only Australian coin with 12 sides. Contains no silver since 1969.
