About Aptos

A Layer 1 blockchain developed by former Meta engineers who worked on the abandoned Diem project. Aptos uses the Move programming language, originally designed for Diem. The network claims up to 160,000 transactions per second through parallel execution. APT tokens are used for transaction fees, staking, and governance. Aptos launched with significant venture capital backing from a16z and others. The Move language provides enhanced security features compared to Solidity, reducing the risk of common smart contract vulnerabilities.
