About Battle of Antietam Half
A commemorative half dollar marking the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam. Featured the portraits of Generals McClellan and Lee on the obverse and the Burnside Bridge on the reverse. Only 18,028 were minted, making it one of the scarcer classic commemoratives. The Battle of Antietam was the bloodiest single day in American military history. The coin was sold during the 75th anniversary celebration at the battlefield.
