The currency of the United Arab Emirates since 1973, replacing the Qatar and Dubai riyal. Pegged to the US dollar at 3.67 dirhams to 1 dollar. UAE banknotes feature traditional architecture, falcons, and the national tree. The UAE Central Bank was established in 1980. The dirham is fully convertible. UAE coins feature a coffee pot or dallah, a symbol of Arabian hospitality. The dirham is one of the most stable currencies in the region.
