Weighed 4.25 grams of pure gold, matching the Byzantine solidus. Abbasid dinars were minted in Baghdad, Damascus, Cairo, and other major cities. Charlemagne copied the dinar standard for his own silver denier. The dinar was the trusted currency of trade from Spain to India.
